Rating System

I rate on a five star scale and will occasionally give half ratings. I base my ratings on:
  • enjoyment
  • writing style
  • characterization
  • plot line
  • underlying themes
0= did not finish this book. It does not happen often but some books I just cannot bring myself to read.

1 star= there are numerous things wrong with this book, so much so that it was a chore to read. Will not be recommending.

2 stars= there are some major issues with this book and I am able to get through with some effort. Will not be recommending.

3 stars= the book was good. It was enjoyable but there were still some issues that diminished the book in my opinion. May recommend or recommend with conditions.

4 stars= the book was amazing. I enjoyed the book, the plot line intrigued me and made sense, the writing style appealed to me, and for the most part the characterization was believable. Usually there is nothing really wrong with the book it just was not a true knock my socks off book. Will be recommending this book.

5 stars= the book was phenomenal. Everything was done very well and I have no true issues with the book. These are usually the books that have either profoundly affected me or were books that I just flew through and could not put down. Will definitely be recommending this book.

Truth be told I might be slightly too generous with my ratings. When you publish you put a piece of yourself out there and if I were an author I would not want someone tearing a book apart and calling me out for every single minor little thing. We are not perfect, it is human nature.
